World Book Night 2013

World Book Night is coming to the the Mille Lacs Lake Community Library on April 23, 2013.    First begun in the United Kingdom,  this event sponsored by publishers, puts 20 copies of one good book out into the community.  Volunteers can apply to get their copies, which they will pick up at the library, by going on to this website:  www.us.worldbooknight.org.  The books can be handed out in schools, hospitals or busy street corners.
The Mille Lacs Library Friends will sponsor a reception the week prior to the book handout.  We're trying to get James Patterson to visit Isle, but if he can't make it, our back up plan is to read from a few of the books while we munch on cookies.  Having read some of the book choices, I can assure you that these are quality reads.  Even if you don't get a free copy, I'd urge you to seek out some of the 2013 books.
